Since you may already suspect that Duck Season is a duck-starring shooter, get ready to mercilessly shoot these feathered beings. The game consists of eight levels each split in three rounds. You are armed with a single-barrel shotgun with a spray gun in your hands, in which there are only six shells. This hints that you should try to make a sort of sieve out of heaven. You must shoot accurately without wasting ammo. Try to hit the ducks as often as possible until they scatter on opposite sides of the lake or soar up, frightened by the sounds of gunfire. Remember, your task is to shoot a maximum number of birds and not to wake up the local flora and fauna.

The mechanics of the game is maintained at a fairly high level. The very shooting, aiming, reloading – all this is done with quite high quality and realism. The visual effects also look pretty good. Moreover, Duck Season can almost pass for the simulator of shooting animals in the wild. The elaboration of details is carried out at an extremely decent level. Eight levels run past your eyes in a wink.

The story is also concocted rather skillfully to keep the gamers involved. You play as the kid of the 80s whose just got a super present from his mom – the latest video game called Duck Season, for their console. Throughout the game, there is a dog showing up regularly during rounds and you can also shoot it without any effect. As you move through the levels, the digital puppy becomes less and less virtual. Throwing this element of horror into the mix certainly enhances the whole atmosphere of the game making it much less mundane.

The game has everything you need. The player can observe the events of the story and interact with the environment. The initial location in the form of a room looks quite neat. It has a table with magazines, a bookcase with books and VHS cassettes on the shelves. They can be collected and scattered around. However, interestingly, some cassettes can be inserted into the console giving you the ability to play parodies of games of the 80s.

Duck Season really is a mixture of many ideas. Seven different endings will encourage the gamers to return to the game again and again after some time. This hunting simulator really has some special charm that attracts your eyes and makes you immerse yourself in the mystical plot of the game over and over, looking for new outcomes for this slightly eerie story. Play it online and see for yourself!
